Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort0, was issued.– This message made me crazy for last few weeks, but let’s start from the begging… I have started new job a few weeks ago. I get there great laptop HP ZBook 15u G2 Mobile Workstation, which works perfect for SharePoint/ Office 365 development. At the begging my IT guys installed Windows 7 as main OS. Well, nothing nothing lasts forever. For SharePoint development I needed virtual machine so I have decided that I would like to make upgrade to Windows 8.1 Enterprise, and them I can use Hyper-V,without additional costs. And everything was running perfect until I started get annoying message in Windows Event Log, which has started make me crazy:

Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort0, was issued.
The IO operation at logical block address 0x1b1e448 for Disk 0 (PDO name: \Device\00000037) was retried.
The error itself was nothing to me, but in the result my laptop was going frozen for several seconds. Every 40-50 minutes. Disaster. I found out many solutions on the Internet:
Change power management from balanced to high performance and also modification to: PCI Express > Link State Power Management > Off

In other cases chipset drivers update, disk controller and disk itself could fix the problem. Some others suggest make some modification to OS registry. In my case without any result. I still got the error in the event log, just like below:

There’s no method which was absolutely confirmed. I have decided that I will try something else. As my company posses software assurance I was able to perform free update to Windows 10. Everything was running well, but after sometime I get again my error. I have started thinking about downgrade to Windows 7… I decided that I will make one more try and I will search for the solution on the HP forums. To be honest I spent there a few hours, as search engine on HP sites sucks… I wasn’t able to find something which could be useful to me… Finally I found information that in some cases we should use dedicated HP power plan for their laptops. Really??? Something like this should in mandatory updates for the laptop, but not in crapware!
I get HP SoftPaq Download Manager, which gave to us possibility to get dedicated software for HP laptop. And then surprise. I found on the application list something called: System Default Settings for Windows 10. And that was it. After installation of this package you will get additional power plan: HP optimized (recommended). When I change my power settings to this plan error has gone. And to be honest I have no idea what this plan change. I think that it change something more than standard power settings, but in my case problem has been solved.
