Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer: SharePoint Applications
YES, finally I’ve got it, I am Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer: SharePoint Applications (MCSD) and I can use this logo 🙂 !
It was a hard time, the last few weeks, but it was worth it. I wrote a few posts about my exams (here and here), but right now, I finally have time to summarize the entire process. As you know, you need to pass four exams to get the title: Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer: SharePoint Applications. If you need more details what’s needed you will find more information here. To achieve this I used Microsft promotion, without it would be very difficult to do this as single Microsoft exam costs 100$. Certification path for Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer: SharePoint Applications has four exams. I wrote before about the core SharePoint part: 70- 488, 70-489, and now I would like to add a few words about last two exams.
That was the hardest exam to me. I am not a design guy so sometimes it’s difficult for me to imagine the layout of the page and how to set CSS properties or which selector should be used to get the result.
I used two sources to prepare to this exam. As before there are excellent courses on MVA (first, second, third, and last one ). Also, there are two books provided by Microsoft which also help you to prepare to this exam. You can find them on Amazon at those links: Exam Ref 70-480 and Training Guide: 70-480. Even that it was really difficult – I passed it with just a few points above the required limit.
70-486 Developing ASP.NET MVC 4 Web Applications
That was the last exam on my path to get my Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer: SharePoint Applications certification. And this exam was a surprise to me. I don’t have to many possibilities to use MVC in my day-by-day work and I think that it was the simplest exam from entire path! Really. For this exam there are two help sources. First one is of course MVA and the second one is official Exam Ref 70-486 .
Anyway, I am very happy that I was able to do this, unfortunately, Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer: SharePoint Applications certification requires me to show continued ability to perform in your chosen solution area by completing a recertification exam every two years. Sorry, Microsoft but this is not going to happen! I spend to much time, to much money to get this MCSD and then I should do this again, after two years?
